Becoming an Independent Celebrant was for Penny a natural progression from her work of the last ten years in the role of Deputy Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages.
As a Registrar, Penny registered Births Deaths and Marriages as well as conducted hundred of Wedding ceremonies. In recent years Penny has recognised the desire of couples planning their weddings to have something really special, a ceremony that is really about them and their journey together. A ceremony written specifically for them and often in a place that is very special to them too. In her role of Independent Celebrant Penny now works with you as you plan your wedding ceremony. Combing her years of experience with new, exciting, bespoke ideas to create the ceremony of your dreams.
Having been through the planning of her own husbands funeral when she least expected to do so, Penny understands the anxiety that ‘getting it right’ for your loved one can bring. She will spend time with you, helping you to choose the right music and the right words. She will get to know the person you have lost through you, in order to write and deliver a service that truly reflects your lives together. Penny will meet you at the start of the funeral service and stay with you until you move on to the funeral wake.
On Naming Ceremonies, Anniversaries and Renewal of Vows;
All family celebrations should be about you and your family. Reflecting all that you have achieved as well as your hopes for the future. Penny will use her writing skills to paint a picture that tells your story. Delivered in a friendly relaxed way, to include family members and friends as required. Whatever the occasion it will be one to remember for many years to come.
Prior to her role as Registrar, Penny spent most of her working life in the Voluntary sector, working as an Advocate for a variety of people, including adults with Learning Disabilities, victims of violence and latterly people living in poor rural communities in Developing Countries.
When she is not working Penny can be found in her garden, often with a grandchild or two helping to grow her favourite herbs. Garden helps to keep her fit and healthy along with her new found passion of dancing the Argentine Tango.
Penny also enjoys writing fiction and cooking for hoards of people.
